Thom Caraway, The Tourist

Do you like Videos?

We’re kicking off a video series to help you get to know us. Who we are, why we’re doing what we’re doing, and how we came to this place we call Millwood Print Works. Over the next few weeks, be on the lookout for videos profiling Bethany, Derek, and more!

THOM.

Thom Caraway is a poet, an editor, publisher, and professor of English at Whitworth University. He’s produced several of his own books of poetry, and served as the Poet Laureate for the City of Spokane from 2013-2015. Pretty cool right? Thom is also the proud owner of an 1896 Chandler and Price clamshell press…that he’s yet to print on.  He’s still working on fixing it up, and then he just has to learn how. Thom has had about zero printmaking training to-date, but he doesn’t lack for zeal. That’s where Millwood comes in!

We’re here for the tourists and the beginners, for the people who’ve only just figured out that there’s a different way to print: a better way. We’ve got you. Millwood is thrilled to introduce a whole new generation of artists to these age-old techniques, and see what comes of it. Art is a frontier to be explored, and we are ready to welcome any wanderer.
